CVQO (Cadet Vocational Qualification Organisation)
CVQO provides the opportunity for members of the Cadet forces, St John Ambulance, Volunteer Police and Fire service cadets including The Prince's Trust to gain internationally recognised vocational qualifications and awards.

  Peter Webb
Peter taught English and coached sport at Shiplake College from 1977-2004 and was commissioned in 1977. He was Contingent Commander from 1990-2004, a member of the CCFA Executive and Chairman of Ox, Bucks and Berks CCF. From 1977-2004 he was involved with the D of E Award and was i/c the Operating Authority 1990-2004. He joined CVQO as an Operations Manager in September 2004. In 2006, he was appointed Commandant of The Royal County of Berkshire ACF. Peter’s other interests are: skiing, rugby and amateur dramatics.


 

Steve Crawley

Steve grew up in Kent before joining the Royal Marines where he saw service across the globe in various roles.  On completion of his engagement he became a Police Officer with Thames Valley Police focussing on both the tactical and community aspects of policing.  During this time he gained both an FdA and BSc(Hons) in related disciplines.  The Sea Cadets and specifically the Royal Marine Cadets have been a major part of his life for over 20 years; he holds various positions within this organisation.  Steve’s hobbies include DIY, comrade support and most forms of adventurous training.




 

Tara Young

Born in 1983, Tara has two young boys aged 7 and 3 and has duel Swiss-British nationality. Tara also studied A-level PE, General Studies, ICT and German at college whilst being a member of Surrey ACF. In 2005, Tara moved to Kent ACF as a detachment instructor and company admin clerk for South East Reserve Forces & Cadet Association. Having been approached by a cadet wanting to take on the CVQO BTEC in Public Services, Tara soon became the VQO for Kent ACF where she currently holds a 100% Distiction pass rate. Tara holds a wealth of cadet force qualifications majoring in outdoor pursuits. Tara is currently working towards her Mountain Leaders and Single Pitch qualifications, and recently qualified as a Bronze & Silver Duke of Edinburgh Awards Assessor. Since 2001, Tara has held many managerial positions which fully backs her ILM Level 3 in Leadership & Management.




 

Gil Singleton

Born in Uxbridge 1953. Attended Southall Grammar Technical School, joined the RAF as a musician in 1970. Awarded the Sir Felix Cassel Bronze Medal in 1972 as the 2nd most outstanding student in order of merit. After Tours with the RAF Regiment Band and RAF Germany Band, was selected for Instructor duties at the RAF School of Music. Prior to returning to the RAF Germany Band, he tried his hand at free-fall parachuting. On returning to the UK in 1980, he once again undertook Instructor duties before joining the prestigious Central Band of the RAF. He eventually became the Principal Percussionist, and was also the founder drummer with the reformed RAF Squadronaires. Not long after completing a wing walk on top of a Tiger Moth aeroplane for charity, he was deployed, along with his colleagues from all 4 UK-based RAF Bands to the Gulf area for the 1991 conflict.

Tours as Branch Storeman and Budget Officer for RAF Music Services followed before re-joining the Central Band as Flight Sergeant in 1995. In 1999 he took up duty with the RAF Regiment Band at RAF Cranwell, and on promotion to Warrant Officer in 2002, he took up position as the Bandmaster of the RAF College Band. He then returned to RAF Uxbridge in 2004 as Bandmaster of the Central Band before retiring from the Service in 2008.

He was commissioned into the ATC in 2008, and is now the Principal Director of Music (Air Cadets) with the rank of Wing Commander. He is an author, and is a Committee Member of the UK Branch of the International Military Music Society. He is also a member of the Light Cavalry of the Honourable Artillery Company.




 

Richard Allen

Richard was born in Kent and joined the Army as a musician in 1984. After training at the Guards Depot and attending Riding School with the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment he joined the Band of The Life Guards. He participated in 22 Queen’s Birthday Parades amongst many other State and Ceremonial occasions. A highlight was being part of the State Trumpet team that played fanfares in the Guildhall in front of over 40 Heads of State for the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Banquet. He has travelled abroad widely; including a tour of duty with A Squadron, The Life Guards where he completed a free-fall parachute course.

He was principle clarinet for 10 years with The Life Guards and WO2 Band Corporal Major for his final four years before posting to the Royal Military School of Music, Kneller Hall as a WO1, where he was responsible for recruiting musicians into the Army. His final year in the Army was spent as the Permanent Staff Admin Officer for the Band of The Royal Yeomanry. Richard continues to perform on his clarinet and is a member of The Life Guards Band Comrades Association Committee. He is interested in military history and is passionate about all things to do with the British countryside.
