This weekend, in historic Dunkeld, The Army Cadet Force opened its new Cadet Vocational Qualification Organisation (CVQO) Learning Centre for the Black Watch Battalion.
Honorary Colonel Lorraine Kelly opened the state of the art learning suite, which is equipped with all the latest technical wizardry required for today’s students.
Thirty cadets then spent the weekend studying for their BTEC in Public Services. The qualification, which is tailored around cadet activities, is equivalent to 4 standard grades and fast becoming popular with young people who are looking for a career in the police or fire and rescue services.
Colonel AK Miller, Chief Executive of the Highland Reserve Forces’ and Cadets’ Association who support and maintain the Army Cadet Force in the Highlands said:
“We are delighted to support the cadet qualification scheme by providing this centre. In addition to the CVQO BTEC, cadets can study for Star Awards, St John’s Ambulance qualifications, Duke of Edinburgh Awards and Piping and Drumming BTECs, which look great on your c.v. and teach some very useful skills.”
