Cadets across the UK are helping to launch Cadet150, in celebration of the 150th anniversary of the cadet movement.
Her Majesty The Queen is Patron of Cadet150, a programme of over 150 events taking place all over the UK throughout the year, all reflecting the spirit of fun, excitement, adventure and community service at the heart of the cadet movement. Together with His Royal Highness, The Duke of Edinburgh, she is receiving today 26 specially-selected Cadet Ambassadors at Buckingham Palace in support of the launch. The cadet ambassadors (7 Army Cadets, 7 Air Cadets, 6 Sea Cadets, 6 Cadets from the Combined Cadet Force) have been drawn from every corner of the UK, specially selected for being outstanding in their own area.
Most of these cadet ambassadors are enrolled with CVQO, or have already achieved BTEC First Diploma or ILM qualifications through CVQO. We wish them well on their exciting day to launch Cadet150.
The day will include a visit to Downing Street where the cadets will meet the Minister for Young Citizens and Youth Engagement, Dawn Butler MP and the Under Secretary for Defence and Minister for Veterans, Mr Kevan Jones MP and lunch at the Ministry of Defence with other invited guests.
This evening the cadets will enjoy an evening reception at Lancaster House hosted by the Ulysses Trust and the Council of RFCAs. The Ulysses Trust exists to support challenging expeditions by cadets and reservists.
