Triple BTEC candidate Petty Officer George Whitfield of Southwark Unit, TS Cossack SCC, took time off recently to assist with the production of a documentary television programme for the History Channel.
The History Channel required extras for a re-enactment of the sinking of HMS Royal Oak, and filming took place aboard HMS Belfast moored in the Upper Pool of London.
George, from Bermondsey, is enrolled on all three BTEC First Diplomas offered by CVQO, in Public Services, Music and Engineering. Once complete, he will have earned himself three qualifications the equivalent of a staggering 12 GCSEs!
George was in the perfect position to dress up in old style ‘square rig’, acting as one of the crew members to recreate the dramatic event.
The documentary is to be shown on either the 14th or 17th October on the History Channel.
