Lt Col Richard Hemmings, Deputy Commandant and VQ Officer of 1st Bn the Highlanders ACF, has recently held a number of training courses at Dingwall Cadet Training Centre for BTEC cadets. 25 cadets from all over the north of Scotland and the Western Isles were involved in the training, with all the work a part of their BTEC Diplomas.

  

Captain Windsor RN, Captain of the Sea Cadets, visited Huyton with Roby Unit SCC recently to personally present them as the winners of the coveted Captains Cup, indicating their position as one of the top SCC units in the UK. This is a significant achievement, especially as Huyton with Roby have already been award with the prestigious Stephensons trophy which highlighted them as the best SCC unit in the NW Area.

  

CWO Abigail Bagshaw of 2415 (Penkridge) Sqn ATC is definitely on a high, having received 2 bits of good news in one week: She has not only been selected as Staffordshire Wing’s nomination for the Dacre Brooch – the award for the highest achieving female cadet in the ATC – but she is one the finalists in the Duke of Westminster Award competition and is off to the selection weekend in Somerset at the end of March.

  

 Aviemore Air Cadet Flight Sergeant Jordan Adams (18) of Kincraig, received not just one but two CVQO BTEC Diplomas this week. She had been working towards her BTEC First Diploma in Public Services and also in Music during the last two years and was rewarded with both at a presentation made by Wing Training Officer Squadron Leader Christine Copsley who had travelled especially for the occasion.
