On Sunday 23rd May, musical cadets from 2484 (Bassingbourn) Squadron competed in the Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire Wing Band Competition, winning three out of five categories, including the full band competition.

BTEC cadet Alexander Mutton, of 2438 (Bishop Ullathorne) Sqn ATC, has been awarded a highly sought after Sixth Form scholarship from the Royal Air Force to assist him in his career plans to become an RAF officer. The scholarship is open to students who are currently in year 12 at school and studying ‘A’ Levels.

Lorretta Painter joined the Sea Cadet Corps 25 years ago, when girls were first entered into the Corps, and was named Officer in Charge of the Girls Nautical Training Contingent. She continued in this post until the contingent was fully amalgamated into the SCC. During her career, Lorretta has been involved in youth work as a school assistant, Cub Scout leader and as a member of the SCC staff.

Alan Laidlaw joined the Army Cadet Force three years ago when his son joined. He decided to become an instructor for a number of reasons. Having been in the army for ten years, Alan was looking to meet people with similar interests and to develop his skills. He also hoped to use his existing experience to help cadets with their own self development.
