CVQO is continuing to develop its vocational education programme for its learners to create additional support for the pre- and post-16 transition from school into apprenticeships and further education.

CVQO Be Work and Apprentice Ready is a short-course programme, funded, devised and delivered by CVQO, aimed at honing the employability skills of young people through new workplace relevant qualifications, workshops, coaching and mentoring.

The free course is for cadets (CVQO learners) who are 16yrs+, currently thinking about their future and possibly looking at apprenticeship and further education opportunities.

The CVQO Be Apprentice Ready short-course programme
The weekend, residential course will include:

  • Employability skills coaching
  • Workplace relevant qualifications
  • Employer networking

The two-day course will include:

  • Employability skills coaching
    • Interview skills
    • Honing a CV
    • Writing job applications
    • Meeting employers and college recruiters
  • Additional certificated qualifications (as option modules)
    • Food Hygiene and Safety,  Health & Safety At Work, Customer Service
    • Introduction to ILM Level 2 Young Leaders
    • Completion of BTEC Level 2, Workbook 1
  • STEM tasks
  • Mentor session with guest speakers from employers and the partner College
  • Sign-posting: Introduce the learner to a CVQO partner college to look at existing apprenticeship opportunities

The course is FREE to cadets 16yrs+ who:

  • have already completed the CVQO-led BTEC Level 2
  • are currently registered and undertaking the BTEC Level 2 
  • who will become registered for the BTEC L2 by the course date
