Last weekend CVQO held another of our highly successful adventure training / BTEC weekends, this time at Kingswood Activity Centre in Doncaster.
Cadets from Flitwick & Ampthill Sea Cadets, Sheffield Sea Cadets, Scarborough Sea Cadets and Doncaster Sea Cadets made up the 17-strong group and they enjoyed a variety of exercises including Jacobs’s ladder, zipwires, abseiling and buggy building – as well as working towards their BTEC Level 2 in Teamwork and Personal Development in the Community.
The increasingly-popular cadet weekends combine many practical, teamwork activities that complement the skills needed for our BTEC Level 2 qualifications.
Michelle Welsh, Area Training Officer (Eastern) at the Sea Cadet Corps, said: “This was a fantastic opportunity for cadets to complete their BTEC Level 2 books and also take part in various activities.
“All the cadets had a fantastic day and it made a big difference completing much of their workbooks over a weekend, rather than several parade nights when units are busy preparing for competitions / training events and inspections.”
Petty Officer Cadet Palmer, from Scarborough SCC, said: “The CVQO-led BTEC Level 2 has made me more confident and helped develop leadership & teamwork skills. It will definitely enhance my CV. Thank you CVQO for making me a better cadet."
