The BTEC Level 3 in Public Services is worth up to three A-levels, depending on whether you take the Subsidiary Diploma, Diploma or Extended Diploma.
It is currently offered in a small number of schools and colleges due to the large number of guided learning hours and the teaching required.
The course is a mix of theory and practical work covering leadership, teamwork, government and politics as well as outdoor activities and expeditions.
You have to be in the sixth form at school or college to be eligible to apply and have a Level 2 equivalent or 5 GCSEs A*-C to participate.
The Level 3 Public Services does attract UCAS points and can be used as entry to Further or Higher Education. However, it can no longer be used in performance tables for schools.
The current BTEC Level 3 Public Services will run until December 2017.
