Graduation FAQs

When can I book my place at the ceremony?
We'll send you an email with details of your ceremony and a link to the online booking system. Emails will be sent to your email address only.  If you think you should be graduating but do not receive our email, contact us as soon as possible.  As a graduate, your ticket is free of charge.

I'm not bringing any guests to the ceremony, do I still need to complete the application process?
Yes, it's essential that you complete the application process - places for graduands are not automatically allocated.

I will not be attending the ceremony - do I still need to complete the application process?
Yes, you'll still need to complete the application process as we need to know how many people will not be attending enabling us to release surplus tickets.

How can I book guest tickets?
When you receive our email invitation to the online booking system, you'll have the option to book a guest ticket. Each graduand receives one complimentary guest ticket, with the option of adding another for a nominal fee of £20. If you have indicated you would like to bring an additional guest, we will send you a PayPal link to complete the process.

How many guest tickets can I purchase?
Initially you may purchase one guest ticket. During the application process you can opt in to be contacted if more tickets become available.

Can I buy tickets on the day?

Can I choose what I have for lunch?
No, but if you have special dietary requirements or allergies we will ensure a suitable alternative is available. If you or your guests have any special requirements, please indicate this when requested during the online booking process.

Can I bring children to the ceremony?
While we understand that your ceremony is a family celebration, the ceremonies are formal occasions and we would recommend that young children do not attend. If you do decide to bring children you will need to purchase a ticket for them. Please note that there are no concessions. Childcare facilities are not available at RMA Sandhurst.

Is there any wheelchair space available?
Yes, but please note that space is limited and should be booked in advance. If you or your guests have any special requirements, please indicate this when requested during the online booking process.

How will I receive my tickets?
Tickets will be sent electronically a couple of weeks before the event.

How will I receive confirmation of my booking?
Once you have completed your booking form you will receive an automatic email confirmation.

Is there a dress code?
You have the opportunity to wear academic dress (cap & gown) which can be hired from Ede & Ravenscroft - details on how to do this can be found here. While gown hire is not compulsory, please note that the majority of our graduands do wear gowns.

We also recommend that graduands wear a shirt or blouse to enable the hood of the gown to be attached to one of the buttons. For more information visit our Graduation gowns page.

There is no official dress code for guests, however, as the ceremony is a formal event we ask that guests dress appropriately.

Is there a cloakroom or changing room I can use?
There will be a cloakroom available. Personal items left in the cloakroom will be entirely at your own risk. Changing rooms are not available at the venue, however, you may use the washroom facilities.

Where do I order my graduation gown? How much will it cost?
Your gown should be ordered at least 21 days before the ceremony from Ede & Ravenscroft who are CVQO's official gown supplier. The cost of hiring an academic gown is between £63 and £68.
